Meet Evan – The Newest Labber

Evan Jackson Pathlabs

We are stoked to introduce the newest addition to the pathlabs team - Evan Jackson!

Give us a short intro. Summarize your life story in a few sentences.

My name is Evan Jackson. I grew up in the small town of Ojai, CA and I consider myself a combination of outdoor adventurer and computer nerd. Whenever I can, I'm out exploring the mountains with my twin brother, hanging out at the beach with my dog, going on snowboard trips, or building computers and playing video games with my friends.

Tell us about yourself! What are you passionate about?

To name a few - I am passionate about hiking, snowboarding, video/photo editing, cars (BMW Enthusiast), Western horseback riding, rodeo, and video games. These hobbies are a big part of the reason I ended up in Montana for college.

Growing up, I was constantly hiking, going to the beach, and playing soccer or tennis. In high school, I discovered one of my all-time favorite activities, Western horseback riding. I had never been on a horse before my freshman year in high school, but by the time I’d graduated I was a proud member of the Silver Dollar Club and an EXCA Youth World Champion. Most importantly, I became someone who will forever appreciate horses and the adventures that come with horseback riding. When I moved to Montana for college, I was able to work on a ranch for two summers while going to school.

What is your educational background?

I attended high school at The Thacher School, a private boarding school in my hometown of Ojai, CA. At Thacher, I was lucky enough to have a high school education that combined an appreciation of the outdoors with incredibly engaging classes. My favorite class in high school was economics because I had a teacher who really brought the subject to life.

Following high school, I went to college at The University of Montana, where I furthered my interest in economics while realizing my true interest lies in marketing. I graduated in November of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in marketing and a minor in economics.

What is your role at Pathlabs?

How has your career path led you to Pathlabs?

Pathlabs was always an interest of mine while attending University of Montana, but after the Covid-19 pandemic hit a lot of opportunities disappeared. I ended up moving home, teaching myself WordPress, and building a website for a local water company, Senior Canyon Mutual Water Company, as a summer internship through UM. I moved back to Missoula for my final semester and graduated with honors one term early in November 2020.

Upon graduating, I had excessive free time due to the world shutting down, so I started playing a lot of video games when I wasn’t working for Senior Canyon. While playing my favorite video game, Minecraft, I began posting clips of my gameplay to TikTok where, over the next year, I amassed a following of 210k+ people. This success led me to create an audience on Twitch/YouTube and develop a revenue stream while having fun constantly working to increase viewership and "beat" the algorithms I was up against.

Coupling these endeavors with a part time front desk job in my hometown, I was busy having fun and pursuing different passions of mine when Pathlabs reached out to let me know they had some open positions. I ended my year long journey as a content creator by entering the personal brand/business I created into the JRBSC at UM and winning the elevator pitch as well as being a finalist. After this, I was hired to Pathlabs and now my adventure continues!

Why Pathlabs?

I chose Pathlabs because of my many conversations with different Pathlabs employees that visited UM throughout my studies. Everyone I spoke to embraced the values that I have and embraced a work hard play hard lifestyle.
